Rebel: a Contrarian’s Guide to Growth
Next to Jesus the counter-cultural revolutionary, the greatest rebel found in the New Testament is Simon Peter. When his sense of loyalty over rode his sense of purpose, he dropped into the role of a UFC bad boy and took a swing at a man coming to apprehend Jesus. In a fit of defiance, he says, “I’ll never deny you Jesus!”...only to fall flat on his face.
God used those same God-given personality quirks to speak to the Christians scattered around the world, challenging them to grow in Jesus with the gusto.
In “Rebel: a Contrarian’s Guide to Growth,” Pastor Travis will be teaching out of 1 Peter. “Give me ten men who hate nothing but sin and love nothing but God, and we’ll change the world.” These are the words of a DEAD WHITE GUY, a short dead white guy who was regularly roughed up by his wife that towered above him. He had issues…but none so big that he could be stopped from radically transforming the face of the earth by communicating a passionate message of Jesus Christ.
Through a look at the lives of four dead white guys: John Wesley, D.L. Moody, Charles Spurgeon, and Charles Finney, we’ll learn to change the world and our lives with the emphases they brought to the world in their corner of the Church…no matter what color…or stage of physiological viability we are at.
